At once, it started to rain, not water but flowers of such heady scents and bright colours – lavender, hyacinths, lilac, daisies and sunflower petals. They fell to Earth in an iridescent rainbow.
The Golden Hind was a beautiful ship, elegant, detailed and proud. Tarran was already the tour guide.
“It was originally called the Pelican but was renamed by Drake in honour of his patron Sir Christopher Hatton, whose crest was the golden hind. A female red deer.
“The red deer is also a symbol of the Fae. Is that not true George?” Ava asked. Her studies of her father’s book were paying off.
“Everything in nature is Fae in some form,” he said, perhaps a touch sharply.
“Everything in nature is to be respected,” said Lexi, “and has deeper meaning.”
The grass was cut perfectly, there were tidy flower beds, a couple of ponds, shrubs and trees, all lovingly cared for. Even the house, close up, was scrubbed and clean. It may have been ancient and in a windswept location, but was clearly maintained in surprising order. When they asked him again how all this was done when he and his mother did not live there for much of the time, Morgan repeated what he had already told them.
“Brownies, they do everything. Don’t you believe me. You know I always tell the truth.”
The Age we are in now is the Age of the Selkie, and the water element prevails, that is why the human world in this Age is also affected, we either have too little water or too much. We know sea levels are rising and there are many storms which bring flooding. In this Age, we have also seen the rise of tsunamis and these are reminders that we need to live and work in harmony with the natural world.
